Well, as an artist with a great love for the simplest forms of art, I love to encourage my daughter (who will be 2 late this summer) in all things artistic. She has a great love for Play-Doh and coloring. Two evenings a week (right now usually Tuesdays and Thursdays), my little Ava's mommy works, and Ava and I spend some time drawing/coloring. In fact, she insists on coloring with me - she refuses to color alone.
I inevitably find myself drawing in the same style I've grown to enjoy thoroughly - overly sketchy and sarcastically humorous stick figures with only slightly sensible hand written text (for further proof of my love of this style, see the links below for Wearable Wares - my online t-shirt shop - and especially to "The Sketchies Universe" section therein).
The drawings featured here on this blog, of course, are all done with good old crayons of all the various brand names (some store bought, many free from various restaurants). Ava colors with me on the same paper, adding fantastically to the fun of the drawing, in my opinion. Oh, and you might notice that it appears that we are drawing on the back of pieces of paper that have things printed on the front. This would, in fact, be a very astute observation. Because, you see, we are.
We both have tons of fun with these, and I have a feeling we just might have an audience out there, if only in the people who already know us.
So, with some luck, I should be able to add a couple scans a week. Enjoy the creativity and budding talent of a future artist and the carefree creativity of her (far, far) less than "high art" artist of a father. Leave comments and questions as you please, I'll be happy to explain what I can. I'd love to hear from you.
Oh, and don't forget - you can see a much bigger version of each picture by clicking it...

I like the mohawk looking hair.
The "Boom" is an excellent touch as it leaves to the imagination what is occuring out of the sight of the picture.
The "tibbiR" makes this kid freindly. I've already held it up to a mirror.
I feel that these boot pictures will go down in artistic history as "Ava and Justin's boot phase".
indeed, the stripe is wicked.
mad wicked.
